


This one-day retreat will focus on the voting process, non partisan local politics, and the reason why civic engagement by young people is so important! Individuals from around the area who are involved in the political process will be presenting and leading discussions on the topic. Please join us on September 27 from 9 am until 5 pm. A t-shirt and lunch will be provided. Everyone is welcome. Please pick up a registration form in the Student Activities Office in the Memorial Union by September 25 or print one here.

Itinerary of events for the retreat:
9-9:30am - Welcome, Expectations (continental breakfast available)
9:30-10am - Voting Timeline Activity (all legislation, presidential elections, etc. pertinent to voting rights in the US...it's almost complete)
10-11:30am - Presentation on the voting system, voter suppression, etc.
11:30-12pm - Lunch (pasta - vegetarian options available)
12-1 - local politicians present
1-1:30 - training on service activities
1:30-2pm - travel to volunteer spot (transportation available)
2-4pm - canvassing/volunteer activity
4-4:30pm - return to campus
4:30-5pm - talk about what we've learned from the service activity and the retreat topics.
