It is the Responsibility of the Renter to be Familiar with the Following Policies

Eligibility to Rent
Rental equipment may be signed out by NDSU students, faculty, staff and the general public. A valid Bison ID Card is required to receive the NDSU reduced rental rate. Only groups associated with NDSU are eligible to receive the NDSU reduced rental rate.

Responsibility of the Renter
The renter is responsible for all equipment from the time of checkout until it is properly checked back in by the Recreation and Outing Center staff. It is the responsibility of the renter to be informed as to the proper usage of equipment.

Rates
Rental rates are based on the number of days the equipment is rented. The Outing Center must charge renters for any days in which equipment is checked out, even if the equipment is not being used by the renters.

Payment
Payment is due at the time of reservation or rental and is accepted in the form of cash, check, credit card, or Bison Bucks.

Equipment Reservations
Rental equipment is not considered "reserved" until full payment is received. Reservations must be done in person at Recreation and Outing Center on the lower level of the Memorial Union. Rental equipment is signed out on a first-come, first serve basis unless a reservation has been made and full payment has been received.

Cancellations
General Equipment: Any cancelled equipment prior to the day of pickup will be eligible to receive a 90% refund. Equipment cancelled on the day of pick up will result in a loss of all fees paid.
Canoes, Kayaks and the Canoe Trailer: Canoes, Kayaks and the Canoe Trailer must be cancelled, 3 days before the pick-up date in order to receive a 90% refund. Any cancellation made less than 3 days prior to pick up will result in loss of all fees paid.

Deposits
Renters must leave either a Bison ID card number or a credit card as a deposit. In the case of a Bison ID card, the student will have their university account charged for any rented equipment that must be repaired or replaced. In the case of a credit card, the card will be charged for any rented equipment that must be repaired or replaced. Renters will be informed prior if any or all of the deposit will be charged.

Equipment Check Out
Rental equipment check out may be done in the Recreation and Outing Center on the lower level of the NDSU Memorial Union. Payment must be received prior to the check out of any equipment.

Check Out and Return Times
Equipment may be checked out after 12 noon on the beginning rental date and must be returned prior to 4 pm on the return date. Renters are encouraged to abide by these times to reduce conflicting rentals. Any late returns will be charged for additional days.

Equipment Return
Equipment may be retuned to the Recreation and Outing Center prior to 4 pm on the date of return. Please plan your return accordingly as Outing Center staff will need to inspect the items to ensure that they are not damaged, excessively dirty, or wet.

Damage or Loss
Renters are responsible for all damages or loss of equipment. Fees are assessed based on the cost of repair or replacement. Due to liability reasons Outing Center staff are not able to assist customers in loading equipment onto their cars.

Cleaning and Drying of Equipment
A $25 fee will be charged for any equipment that is returned wet or dirty. This determination is at the discretion of the Outing Center staff.

Fuel
Renters must purchase their own fuel and mantles for stoves and lanterns. These stoves and lanterns must use Coleman fuel only. Anyone burning any other fuel will be charged the cost of replacing the equipment.
